 Position Summary:

The Production Manager’s primary function is to oversee and manage the flow of the projects within our manufacturing facility. This position will be responsible for managing and coordinating the activities of employees to ensure efficient production processes and the timely delivery of high-quality products. There must be a high level of leadership between this role and their subordinates, to create smooth facility processes.

All decisions and actions must be made in a way that upholds Custom Design Compnent’s Mission Statement and Core Values.

 Job Qualifications:           

  • Highly proficient in setting up, operating, and maintaining various machine tools, including both manual and CNC machines.
  • Proven experience as a Production Lead, or similar position, within the manufacturing industry or related sectors.
  • Background knowledge of tooling with a desire to consistently improve processes.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.

Technical requirements:

  • Ability to read and interpret prints.
  • Skilled use in precision measuring tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of material types/grades and their machinability.
  • Proficient in project management and production planning software.
  • Basic computer knowledge including Word, Excel, and ERP software navigation

Responsibilities:

 Machining:

    • Machine Operation: Setting up and operating various machine tools to produce or repair precision parts.
    • Print Interpretation: Reading and understanding technical drawings and specifications.
    • Quality Control: Inspecting and testing finished products for defects and ensuring they meet specifications.
    • Tool Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance on machines and tools to ensure they operate efficiently.
    • Safety Compliance: Following safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Leadership:
    • Provide visionary leadership to inspire and motivate the team towards achieving excellence and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
      • Ensure the productivity of the shop floor employees.
      • Challenge employees that do not seem as productive as they should be.
      • Constantly train and retrain them, to ensure a higher level of position understanding and efficiency.
    • Manage the performance of the team.
      • Address employees who are repeatedly having rework needed or QC concerns.
      • Highlight and encourage high performers.
    • Work with, lead, and support the shop employees for productivity improvement initiatives.
      • As gaps and obstacles are found, investigate the root cause of the issue and resolve it with a long-standing fix.
    • Oversee the weekly schedules for your team, and help resolve gaps when needed.
      • Address any scheduling concerns, when discovered.
      • Manage vacation requests of your team, in accordance with the vacation policy.
    • Conduct yourself as a fair and professional leader amongst your employees, creating a separation where favoritism cannot be perceived.
    • Manage and enforce a clean work environment, clear of debris.
    • Perpetuate an atmosphere of teamwork and high morale.
    • Maintain cross-training of needed duties to cover for vacations, illness etc.
    • Manage weekly communication with the Leadership Team and other key roles, to ensure proper order flow is being executed.
  • Operational Management:
    • Collaborate with the Production Manager to verify capabilities as required.
    • Understand and make yourself knowledgeable, of the full scope of the ongoing projects.
    • Analyze areas of risk for projects, and proactively find solutions.
    • Manage and oversee the preventative maintenance schedule for the shop.
      • Ensure that all machines are up to date with their needed maintenance and schedule the PMs during down times or slow times within the shop.
    • Uphold a high standard of cleanliness throughout the entire company.
    • Maintain a safe and accident-free area within the company and address any possible safety concerns immediately.

CNC Machinist – Second Shift

The Machinist is a skilled technician who operates CNC milling machines to produce precision manifolds. Their role typically includes reading and interpreting technical blueprints or drawings, setting up machines to meet specifications, and using a variety of tools to shape, cut, and finish metal components to precise dimensions. Machinists must ensure the quality of their work through precise measurements and adjustments, maintain equipment, and adhere to safety standards in the workplace.

  • Knowledge of selecting and installing appropriate tooling and fixtures for specific jobs.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and awareness.
  • Strong self-starter, with great organizational skills to self-manage their day.
  • Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of different materials and how they respond to various machining processes.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming languages (G-code/ M-code) and software may be required for positions involving CNC machines.
